My father told me that eating a banana or two before leaving shore was a method to prevent seasickness. He was taught this as a young boy by some old salt.
I rarely eat any cereal other than oatmeal and I use old fashioned oatmeal without all of the sugar. I add aspartame, raisins and walnuts to the mix. Good healthy breakfast for a retiree.
I love the Down song “Stone the Crow”. Heavy Metal! The expression “stone the crow” is used to express surprise or shock (similar to “I’ll be darned!” or “Holy mackerel!”), It more likely refers to the fact that crows feed off of carcasses, so if one were dying they would throw stones at a crow who was attempting to pick away at them as they lay there. So “stone the crow” can mean “to refuse to die”. Therefore “not stoning the crow” means “accepting that you are going to die” and “shouldn’t stone the crow” means “should give up on life”. Maybe that is why?
