In an economy of approximately 330 million people, building bridges and roads already paid for by local money, just does not seem to be working. Construction employment is down, Contractors are giving big discounts. Business people just have do not any faith in the American economy, that it will grow in a way that people will start to buy things. Unemployment benefits do not make jobs. State and Local governments are laying off, and will soon be forced to cut spending for education from kindergarten thru college. And no one at the top is focused on the jobs. Always tied in some political policy that looks good but never addresses the problems of too much government, taxes, regulation. Or in other words, if government spending grows at 5 to 8 per cent per year, it is unsustainable, or the bubble bursts, as the dotcom bubble, the mortgage bubble, the banking bubble, the stock market bubble. The markets correct this and to try to say it won’t happen is silly and immature.
Failure although tied to the good intentions emotionally, is still failure. Everybody can’t work for the federal government. The funniest thing is even the Democrats do not believe this will work.
