But chicken wire won’t keep out snakes. Here in Middle TN a month or so ago, we had 4 power outages in about 7-8 days found due to snakes getting in the substation. They have apparently fixed the problem. The story made national news briefly.

I remember being THRILLED to get a mortgage rate in the 14% range in 1981. Many things were similarly expensive. Inflation was ugly.

Thank you for this. I’m not totally out of the loop but this is the first time I’ve heard the term in my nearly 70 years.

I still remember my first home phone number: SPruce 3-3613. I was 4, Mom made us memorize our number in case we got lost when we were (gasp!) outside playing. Unsupervised. 1958.

Showing my age here… Definition of harlequin from Dictionary.com: a comic character in commedia dell’arte and the harlequinade, usually masked, dressed in multicolored, diamond-patterned tights, and carrying a wooden sword or magic wand; a buffoon. The commedia dell’arte was an Italian public entertainment beginning in the 1500s. Usually had certain general types of characters and plots. Think plays or puppet shows (very loose analogy) put on for the public.
