I repeat for the fifth time: the box was taped shut. It was opened when Steff opened it. No one could get at the contents (underwear etc.) until she herself opened it. Also, why would she put a ring n a box of underwear?

How could Les steal a ring from a taped box? More likely, if he could sneak into the box, he would have stolen some of her underwear.
