But the Bible does get the numbers wrong. Frequently. For instance, Biblical Israel, at most a very minor power, appears to be assigned more war chariots to its Army than its mighty superpower neighbours, Egypt and Assyria, put together. The quoted numbers for the Israeli population are far in excess of what such a small land area could support. The total Israeli population is in excess of the whole of Egypt. Nothing makes sense. Unless the count was wrong and has been exaggerated in the telling.
