One of my college band directors, Mike, relayed a story about one of his early jobs. He was a good singer and would sing for weddings, funerals or whatever event you wanted a singer to help finance his college education. He was singing “I’ll Fly Away” at a funeral and had not been told that the departed loved one had arranged with the mortuary for his body to sit up in the casket during the singing of the song. Mike said that his voice got kind of shaky but he finished the song. People can be pretty weird.
My college roommate had two jobs at that time. He was a phlebotomist at the hospital and he also slaughtered steers at the local packing plant. He always wanted to wear his packing plant attire to the hospital to draw blood. Fortunately he never did.
