Back in the 50’s and 60’s my sister and I used to call them the Sob Stories because of all the sobbing that went on in the shows.

It is just another day, except I get paid a bit better for the two days. Work, eat, sleep, work, repeat.

And this was totally planned. Look at the grin on Elly. She knew what was going on.

As Mom used to say. “Kids, close the door we can’t afford to heat the outside”. Or, “Stop standing there with the Door Open. It’s Not Summer anymore.”

I only passed through the country a couple of times during my 5 years living next door. My accented Deutsch is messed up enough that most people who talked to me though that I was Dutch. Was living Niedersachen but learned speech and grammar influenced by Rheinland-Pfalz, Schleswig-Holstein, and Bavaria, by the end of the 5 years had picked up quite a bit of speech habits from my neighbors.

Gizmo Cat, I’m guessing that you must live somewhere British. Most places in this area of the U.S. a yard either front or back is mostly grass and or trees. Back yards are mostly out of direct viewing of the public and so get used as a children’s play area (ball diamond, and such) and often contain several flowerbeds, or even a garden (a place where veggies and/or ornamentals are grown).

Lost the last of my Dad’s immediate family members Sunday morning. (His Sister-in-Law). No one left on that side except us cousins and many of us are gone as well. After 70 years some of us almost get used to the situation. It is harder for my youngest sister since she is getting to be an “Established” grandmother now. That and the 6 years difference between us seems to be growing, even though it is not.

Thank you. I guess I missed hearing that he was not just retired due to health issues. Between people such as Alex and family members it has been a bit rough trying to keep track of who is still here and who is not over the last couple of years.

Someone needs to do more data collection on their target. This place may even have what he would consider “Adequate” cooking containers. He does love to cook, even without having a platoon to feed anymore. He is still working on getting that part of things worked out properly.
