Sadly, ahab, you are missing the point of the cartoon and the main purpose of firearms. It is not the gun that does this murdering. I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but you see, the point is that the PERSON (regime, ideology-driven group, etc) who does the killing is responsible. That applies whether he uses poison gas, swords, bludgeons, OR guns.

It takes a straight-man to make the hook work. Phil is good for that.

But Phil is MUCH more than a straight-man. And if he ever does take this family on his shoulders totally (which is the way I see this story-line building), his eternal salvation is assurred.

Good day, good strip. Reality. I know, I’ve been there as a single father.

What a bunch of *&$%#@@ ! Some of you people seem to know so little about the realities of unions.

If unionization were so good, it would be able to attract members on its own merits, alone. There would be no need for the strong-arm “Card Check” which the unions are trying to get their friends in Congress to enact.

If unions and their commanders were so good, Jock Yablonski and his wife and daughter would be posting in this thread.

Jimmy Hoffa would be a beloved memory.

And GM and Chrysler would be thriving.

    Ad infinitum… …

See, Mom and Calvin ARE cut out of the same cloth, even if it does have eye-holes. PARTICULARLY if it does have eye-holes.

BenDavid, it is all in the raising. Start them early with more than “da-da” and “goo-goo”.

Read to them - Shel Silverstein, Rudyard Kipling, and Nathaniel Hawthorne while they are three and four, and they will take it from there. Don’t get them lost in Dr.Seuss, they might stall there.

That IS love she is giving him. You just automatically know Calvin is unconventional in his love and its expression..

So he comes by it honestly. Mom and Dad just conceal it a bit differently (and express it so).

I don’t think Hillary would carry balls in her backpack. However, the Beekeeper … . who knows what HE carried.
