Probably the most uplifting news story I read today was about firefighters who used the jaws of life to rescue a trapped kitten that had slipped between two boulders. After rescuing it, one of the firefighters decided to adopt it.
Guntherās attitude pisses me off. His (single!) mom spent his entire life dedicated to raising him, forgoing her own needs to make sure his were taken care of. Does he comprehend what kind of sacrifice that is? How freaking lonely single motherhood can be? Well, now heās raised. Heās an adult and he needs to act like one, and let his mom have a chance to live her own life for a change. And he needs to figure this out quick before he does something incredibly stupid and selfish.
As tragic as it is that Shannonās dad would rather go to a party than spend time with her, Iām glad heās not a control freak power play dad who would force her to come against her will. Maybe sheāll actually get a chance at happiness with Brad and Toni.
Yeah, rather than this being the start of āadopt Shannon,ā maybe itās the start of āBrad learns that sometimes the kid has to go with her sperm-doner ādadā whether she wants to or not because thatās what the law says she has to do, and neither the kid nor the people who actually care about her can do anything about it except endure and hope nothing bad happens.ā Welcome to real life.
Thereās no point in making your kid a costume unless you actually ask them what they want to be for Halloween first. You can make the coolest, most accurate Sherlock Holmes costume ever, but itās all for nothing if your son wants to be Iron Man. I love making my kidsā costumes every year, but I make sure they are as excited about it as I am FIRST.
What, youāre incapable of picking up a watering can, John?
