    We had a dog, who one night saw a mostly black skunk and jumped over it to play and discovered very quickly that it was not our black cat in the yard. It was in November and we had to carry her through the house to the bathroom because it was too cold to bathe her outside. It smelled so bad that we had to put our winter coats on so we could open the windows to air out the house. Even then for a few weeks, we still could smell a faint skunk odor every time we came inside.
