At least James Wolfenstein above asked “Did he use wet chalk?” and if you see his follow-up post below, apparently if you use wet chalk, you can’t see it at first until after it dries. So, that’s one possible explanation.
At least the NYT did a story that I saw where the conclusion was that lots of people didn’t necessarily like HIM, but liked his POLICIES, which rings true to me.
At least the most obnoxious one I’ve run into was a magazine subscription that I’ve had for some years that told me last year (without my asking it to do this) that I was on an autorenew plan. They did send me a notice of the autorenew months before it was due to renew. However, their autorenew somehow was going to autorenew for about $10 more than a new subscription. At least the first year of the “autorenew” year, I opted out and then signed up for a new subscription to see if they’d learn a lesson, but no… This year, I opted out and I’m not signing up again.
Even GoComics — I go to the My Account page and tell it to turn off the autorenew. I have had issues with one refusing to delete my card information, but I contacted their customer support and asked how to turn off autorenew and they told me.
You’re lucky. Here, you can’t do any alcohol or rainchecks via self-checkout, coupons are troublesome, produce is difficult (you have to look up the proper code and you’re unlikely to find it), etc. etc., etc.
Ah! You were the navigator! That’s my usual function, too. :)
