No way in the world that I would take a job with “politicians”. (little letter deliberate)I had enough when I was in the Army. Officers, for the most part, are almost as bad as politicians.
Did not say that markets work that way now. Nor did I say that they could not. Being born in 47, I am familiar with Smoot-Hawley, among others.
I think it would be much simpler, and more equitable, to just redo the trade agreements with a clause that states that what standards the U.S. imports have to meet to be allowed in a particular country, that country’s exports to us have to meet.
Tariffs are how the Federal Government paid for everything we needed (Military, roads, schools, Federal pay for employees, etc….Everything) from 1776 until about 1928.
