   Rip is understandably upset. The Mayor (…and Breezy) tried to rein him in; the Mayorn then hired 2 deputies without consulting him as Sheriff and the Mayor fired him before she got herself kidnapped. Rip will save her, of course, and remind her of her foolishness.

   This isn’t the first time that someone in a position of authority has fired Rip for the way he does things, tries to do something different then come crying to Rip when their ways makes things worse. The first time was Dutch (…Breezy had a hand in it, too) and now it’s the Mayor’s turn. Breezy should apologize to Rip as well but we know she won’t…will she, Dan?

    There are bound to be exceptions somewhere in the country. But, as the saying goes, exceptions do not make the rules. NYC covers 5-counties and the City of Denver is also the County.

    By and large, Sheriffs are positions elected by the people of a county and mayors have no jurisdiction to control or recall them, much less the richest woman in the county (aka, Breezy). The situation in the comic is for dramatic effect. That doesn’t mean I won’t call it out, tho.
