   Yes, the statement could have ended differently, with “This is proof that it’s rigged!” Then it should have started with, “See? They’re convicting him of to stop me from saying that justice is rigged”… or “They’ve convicted him…”

   OK, so your problem is with “rational”. Just because there are some people both on the left and right who don’t understand what it means, and others who just want to ignore it, does not mean that it’s “up in the air”.

   You can look up what “rational” means. I think @Saurischia is quite clear understanding what it means.

   I don’t know whether to call your predictions about future population optimistic or pessimistic. They do seem to rely on bad things happening soon. Anyway, both what you say – “less people could still screw up the environment” and what I have said, “Even if we all consume less resources more people will still use more” are true. That doesn’t mean we can stop working on one or the other.

    I did believe you. By the way, the whole thing made me curious and when I looked it up was surprised to see it was white asparagus. I had never seen that before moving to Germany.
