Yes, squirrels are just rats with the good fortune to have bushy tails and good PR. But seriously, it’s not just how they look; rats tend to want to live real close to people, which is kind of creepy. And then there’s that Bubonic Plague thing.

Thank you. That brings my world back into balance… well sort of.

I’m glad to see that virtual ambulance took care of his back injury. I guess it was just a virtual injury.

Nationalists of every color and flavor are either very gullible or very cynical, but I don’t think that’s the point Qist was trying to get to.

I’m happy to say that the water where I live is just fine for drinking. On the other hand, how true your statement is depends very much on where you live. Some people in Africa, for example, may have to spend ours every day to get enough water to live — or send their children to do get it. But that’s not really today’s toppic.

Yes, but some voters sincerely believe that every abortion is murder. This makes them blind one-issue voters. We will never convince them to think otherwise on abortion itself, but just maybe we could convince some of them that the best and most effective way to prevent abortion is with better access to contraception, that would reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies; and with better health care for all women, which would reduce the number of medically necessary – for the life of the mother, abortions. I don’t believe that every abortion is murder, but I do think that every one is sad. This is a place to start with some of the Trump voters. There are other places to start with others. The fact is, a majority of those who voted in the last election voted for Trump. Since we live (for now) with a democratic form of government, we have to convince some of those people to vote differently the next time they get a chance, and we will never do that if we just paint every one of them with the same brush and call them cruel and illogical. Some are both, but then, I see a lot of illogical thinking on both sides.

The 38 who voted against probably would have voted for it if they knew that would make the difference to make it pass. This way they can pose as “pure” small gov. without doing any damage to the larger agenda.

It’s not about “capitalism”, even though many on the left talk like it is. Adam Smith never would have sugested that corporations should have the same rights a people and corporations are not really required to have capitalizem though well regulated corporations do make capitlizem work more efficiently.
