Herd dogs like border collies want to herd without being trained. Pointers want to point. It’s instinct bred into a breed. Most pit bulls are gentle but if something sets one off, the results can be deadly instead of just a dog bite. . A man was mauled to death in my city a couple of months ago. If you google something like “dog maulings by breed” you get results like “Probably the most notorious breed on this list, the pit bull has a reputation for unpredictability and aggression, even against its owner or his family.” And “Pit bulls caused 66 fatalities over the course of the study, ranking it as the most deadly dog breed. The American Pit Bull Terrier has consistently been the breed of choice in the highly-illegal sport of dog fighting, and it is known for its intimidating and aggressive nature.”
