Actually, I thought there was one of those “did they or didn’t they?” moments in the past. And I don’t think it ever got definitively resolved.
Considering some of the progressive things Greg has done in this strip, a “Luann-loses-her-virginity” plotline is almost certainly in the works. However, this is just not it; at least I hope not. The past week and a half the strip has been just dull and awkward (and, yes, I know first time sex is like that, but it’s just stretching out a one-joke (or incident) affair.) Let’s just get out of the bedroom, call it Pam Ewing’s dream, and move on until the plot is better suited.
Am I sensing Greg thinking beyond the high school level here and making plans for the strip’s future? Luann, a year or so down the line, moving to New York and becoming kind of a “That Girl” trying to make it on Broadway?
Did JJ write himself into a corner? If Arlo passes on it, we lose the recurring fantasies about him being on a schooner, because he had the opportunity and passed it up.
I’m glad they dealt with the issue and, in my opinion, settled it honestly. I was really afraid they’d go into “Funky Winkerbean” type preachiness.
Is this possibly a setup for an “extended family living with A & J” story arc?
