   I’m guessing a pilot light flame heats a Powerpile which generates enough electricity to open the gas valve.

    Point taken. My bad. However, Jimmy Johnson is an American and the strip is usually centered around American places and events. I cannot recall when he has done a strip that references something Canadian. Not to say he has not done so, I just can’t recall it happening.
