It’s true that Bush enacted the first bail-out, which inordinately favored the banksters. Obama enacted the Cash for Clunkers program, that did indeed save the auto industry and thousands of downstream jobs as well. And yes, you are correct that the right-wing has been busily re-writing history, yet again, to convince their base that Obama instigated all of the bailout. Reading these comments, it appears that a nerve has been struck.

Ah, the embarrassment that is the Texas Board of Education. Here in Texas, the right-wing fundamentalists started waging their war against everyone else in the 60’s by getting elected to the school boards and other minor government offices. I mean, come on, who pays attention to school board elections? Some of us did, but most did not. They used these minor government offices as a springboard to higher and yet higher offices. And they were patient. They began their holy war in earnest with the election of Ronald Reagan, although they have always been lurking in the shadows, going back to the John Birch Society. When Barry Goldwater was resoundingly defeated, they didn’t go away, they just regrouped and then planned their full frontal assault, while no one apparently was paying attention.

This is very bad for Texas, but the truly frightening thing is that because of the size of Texas and the number of students in Texas, most other states adopt the textbooks approved by none other than the Texas Board of Education. Now all children can be taught that evolution is “hooey” as described by the board chairman in 2009 and that the income tax is contrary to the word of God in the scriptures, added by a board approved “expert” in 2010.

Oh yes, those terrible liberals in Texas of all places surely have mucked up our education system. The fact that Rick Perry has personally appointed every board member has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Honestly, these people amaze me. In the shake-your-head, what-on-earth-did-you-say, kind of way.

Great comment, as always, sir. The Republicans’ education “reform” is guaranteed to produce poorly educated students, which is their long-term goal. As you said, folks capable of critical thinking would be able to decipher the lies and misinformation that is propagated by the right wing, ad nauseum and as a result would never vote for them. As George Carlin famously said, they want us just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, but not smart enough to sit at their kitchen table and figure out just who’s been screwing them all these years. Critical thinking is not in the owner’s interests. It really is a big club, and we surely ain’t in it!

Your comment is ignorant, offensive and patently false. This is a very nice comic about a very nice family who happens to be Hispanic. Given that, it’s obvious you have no place here. Please take your hatred elsewhere.

Whenever Hollywood begins making full feature children’s movies based on toys, such as the new Legos movie, and charge you around $15 to put up with screaming children, cell phone users and animated chatterers, it’s definitely time to read a book.

It appears that Corporate America’s opinion of their employees hasn’t changed in the last few thousand years. And here I thought that it was only in the last 30 years that a hard-working, loyal employee came to be reduced to a line item on their P/L statements, firmly placed in the expense column, which translates to expendable.

Me, too! Altho, I have to admit I watch it mainly for the interesting info about ancient cultures and myths and the artwork they present is beautiful. But I get a kick out of Giorgio and the gang and hey, they do make you think outside the box. I hadn’t heard about a lot of recent technological advancements until I watched their show, either.
