Luann brought up the kidney donation in the first place (to give to Mrs. Horner). Phil offered that she could donate to a general pool if she really wanted to donate. Not so bad. It’s not like he brought it up in the first place, or tried to convince her that she should.
There are places that pay for plasma. I’ve never heard of whole blood donors being paid. Occasionally, I’ve received a trivial gift (like a pair of red cross socks).
The number of people willing to donate is quite a small percentage of the population. If you did it once, you know it’s not a big deal. I agree that the Red Cross calls can be annoying – but the solution is to just regularly schedule to donate. Then the calls give you a chance to brag. No one cares, but I’ve donated a lot over my lifetime. I had to quit when I was prescribed a blood thinner. Then the blood thinner contributed to internal bleed and I needed 2 units of blood to save my life. Sure was glad someone else was donating my (somewhat rare) type.
I saw them in ‘71. What an amazing show! (Readers who aren’t familiar with The Firesign Theatre, see if you can find a copy of “How Can You Be In Two Places At Once When You’re Not Anywhere At All” . Start with The Further Adventures of Nick Danger on side 2.

Not sure where you live, but Google has no idea what a Clean-Tip is. We have recycling centers near us, but what they take is limited to paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, and motor oil.
You wonder if they voted in the primary. The primaries are generally voted in by the radicals of both parties, and we end up with losers, time after time.
