Well, it has been my experiance that Starbucks is for people who don’t actually like coffee. Those cream and sugar confections certainly aren’t ‘coffee’, and a straight shot is a sad over-roasted mess.

I’m going to second the notion that that is Human Wally. What better brain f- is that?

Perversely, what’s in the bubble may well be the reality, yet Wally’s experiance so far may still be in an unreality projection, so who knows if there Really is a hold full of bubbles or anything that has been revealed so far is true??

A question I’d ask would be – was Amesworth tech used on the other earths? If not, then the possiblity of it being a reality-buster is possible. As for who and how it affects- maybe the overall phenomenon requires the individual to be on planet from day one- as the Earth got more reality destabilized. Then, to get the ‘mutation’, required some kind of exposure to an airborne aspect. Since the Lucranians missed the opening act, they were not pre-disposed to the second half of the effect? I’m also wondering how different this Earth was, pre-war, as everything looked kind of retro-future prosperous. Unless there were not yet seen have-not nations?

I have an idea. Assuming Amesworth radiation tweaks matter out of this reality, perhaps the ‘mutations’ are actually reality cross conversions? Amesworth weakens the inter-realty separation, if there is such a thing? Since the ‘mutations’ are nearly instantanious, anything like normal biology isn’t involved (other than in superhero or magical circumstances) so it could be something going on there, combined with the mind state of the victim. Further, perhaps Sanders’ successful anti-Amesworth experiment was only once in all the alternatives, somehow tweaking the outcome of the end of the world as they knew it? Just a thought.

I think Salen has it half right. The disintegration effect could well be a matter of matter leaving ‘our’ space. And, as previously implied, the effect works its way up the periodic table with intensity/exposure time, starting with the dehydration effect, the loss of hydrogen. Then further breakdowns of molecules as other atoms are selectively extracted. That ‘Sparkplug’ could make himself immune could be a matter of him becoming more stable or firmly attached to this reality.

I’d WAG it is Wally’s past, come to get him to move forward(?)

Regarding missiles hitting the ship and not exploding- For nukes and equivelent, they are usually fused to only explode when and where they are targeted for, so would be only inert impactors were they to hit something else.

Actually, the barrage could be chock full of all kinds of awful, as early on in the series it was stated all kinds of exotic physics had been weaponized and Allah only knows which ones might interact and cause bizarre effects that would make conventional nukes seem trifling.
