Not liking this at all. Generally, I’d be a purist, saying something like, “He’s been around since the 19th century. That’s not realistic”. But Walt is an institution. A bit of artistic license is definitely allowed and welcome in his case. To paraphrase a battle cry of a different kind that availed itself in the midwest circa 1969, “Free Walt now!!”
Actually the work of Pablo Picasso, Len Lye, Andy Warhol and others who would be in solidarity with Nil’s perspective on art dates back (at least in Lye and Picasso’s cases) a century or so. Great art is timeless. But if one must limit one’s appreciation of art by such periphery as chronology, then that would certainly qualify as “old fashioned”.
Bucky is right. After all, Mighty Mouse was a mouse. But he could kick tail with the best of them.
