   We make what we like to call Leftover Cakes after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hubby puts scoops of leftover mashed potatoes; squash; peas & corn; carrots and cuts up some of the turkey and he even tosses in the cranberry sauce too. Bit of gravy and butter for binding and mixes it all up. Then he forms cakes (like fish cake size) and fries them up until browned on both sides and steaming hot. They are served liberally coated in warmed gravy and are so delicious. They can be made ahead and frozen for later enjoyment as well.

   We have a rescue cat. He was 5 months when we got him in 2013 after losing our 17-year-old cats to cancer and a stroke the year before. He is a huge sooky-baby. We love him to pieces. He’s an a**hole, but he’s our a**hole.

   I’ve tasted a lot of different wines, still don’t like it. Just not my thing. A lot of my family likes it, but the smell and taste just doesn’t appeal to me.

   I can’t stand wine. To me it tastes awful. I prefer vodka or gin. Disaronno is a fave in our house.

   I make lists all the time…lol. Hubby likes to tease me about it. I get a pass today, though, it’s our 31st wedding anniversary.

   We still exchange gifts because we enjoy it, but it’s usually books, games or licensed tees (we’re a family of star wars geeks and we all game as well, both pc and mobile/console). We like to get together and play games and snack at the holidays. Oldest son still lives at home, but youngest bought his own home this summer. He and his lovely gf will spend Christmas Eve hanging out here with us, home alone on Christmas Day and spend Boxing Day with her family.
