“Happy” Memorial Day“?? Why are you wishing “Happy” anything to the dead and their families? Memorial Day is not a day of celebration, but a somber day of remembrance. How many of you will fly your American flag correctly today — half staff until noon, then raise to full staff?

I know how she feels. The sweater I’m doing for my daughter this year is cursed. I’ve taken out and redone a lot of it, but I WILL win.

So true. I’m about ready to write to the FCC to see if something can be done about this.

Our cat, who spends most of his time in a screened porch, sometimes catches the lizards that get in. When I can save the lizard I take it out onto the front porch with a lecture — “stay out of the back porch, the cat will get you.” The message must be getting through — last year there were no lizards and this year just one so far. I really don’t like cleaning up thrown-up lizard parts.

I have been buying carpeting in the color of cat vomit for years. You should see the reaction I get when I ask for it. By the way, this is a comic strip, not real life, so ease off on the comments as to how Ellie should be raising her child.

Reminds me of a favorite pun — Why do chicken coops have only two doors and not four?If they had four doors they wouldn’t be chicken coops, they would be chicken sedans!I

My cat would give Marm a run for his money.
