I haven’t used the train in many years, but when I was a child our family went from New Brunswick to our grandmother’s cottage on Prince Edward Island. The passenger cars were shunted onto the ferry (well before a 9-mile causeway was built) and we explored the boat while making the crossing. Then we reboarded for the ride to Charlottetown, the island’s capital. In the early days the train would then continue on to the Northeast tip of the island, but we would get off at St. Peter’s Bay where our uncle would pick up in a pony trap to take us to Gram’s cottage. Wonderful memories.
