Not my parents. They had no shame and claimed their favorites as a reward for either being our chaperone or being the one to stay at home. My dad was usually the chaperone and spent more time talking with the neighbors than escorting us from house to house. They also weren’t above snooping through our bags because it was just there. My brother and I learned real fast to each have a decoy bag and showed our younger brother to do the same thing.

I was in a car accident in a Road Runner when I was a small (early 70s) kid. We were in a carpool with other neighbor kids. I remember that car had some wicked power and was solid. It was pouring rain but no damage to the car and the cop let us continue on to school. But that car had always frightened me. It was loud, rough and that darn bird on the back of the car didn’t help.

I was only at the football games because I was in the marching band. Being a member of my college band was a big deal. We were known to be totally insane and always put on a great halftime show. The football team loved us. The cheerleaders … not so much.

I think most siblings go through the “I hate” sibling stage at one time or another. I know I did but it’s true about age and wisdom. My parents always told us to behave because one day it would just us and that day has come and gone. We get along well, but still manage to annoy each other. It’s part of the game we play but we also know at the end of the day we are there for each other.

I love to work puzzles alone. Growing up I’d have one laid out on my bedroom floor. My mom gave me her old sewing cutting board which was perfect to hide under my bed. I would walk into my bedroom to find one or both of my brothers diligently working on it. Made me so mad because it was their attempt to bug me. My parents just laughed.

I love a good jigsaw puzzle. The more pieces the better so anything over 2000 pieces are for me. Once completed, I tend to take it apart by frame first and putting the pieces in a zipper bag. Then I rip the rest of the puzzle apart and put it back into its box till next time.
