Speaking as a former school bus driver. Several important points.

As mention above, the driver has to stay in control of the bus. That is why if a fight breaks out on the bus, thee driver doesn’t stop and go try and stop the fight. Doing so means you have surrendered control. My school district had us radio the bus yard and head to the nearest school no matter what grade and police would be waiting on us there.

Also any unbuckled metal buckles become lethal object when a bus is in an accident. Think of twirling a seat belt around and hitting something with the buckle. For those that want to mention retractable seat belts, Nope. They jam too often and drivers cannot go fix them every stop.

The metal bar on top os the seats should be gone on busses now.

Some facts about school buses. The color is unique by law. There may be colors close but school bus yellow is its own color. The bus sits high for a reason. Back before pickups and SUVs got so tall, busses were made high so a car striking from the side would go under the seats rather than into the seats.

There is an escape hatch in the roof because years ago, a bus went into a body of water and a lot of kids drowned. So they now have an escape hatch.

BTE, with practice, I officially could get all 72 kids off a bus in 1.5 minutes. If you are stuck on a railroad crossing, and you hear a train whistle, he is at ½ mile out or closer. If the train is doing 30 mph, you have 60 seconds to clear the bus. The average tran takes 1 mile to sotp. They are reluctant to apply emergency braking if they have hazmat material as emergency braking greatly increased the risk of derailment. Most of us figured we could actually clear a 72 passenger buss in less than a minute but there would be a lot of skint knees and elbows and tears but they would be alive. Impact by a train is horrific. When the train impacts, you remain still while the bus moves with the train and you slam into the side of the bus with incredible force.

I like it as is. If folks don’t like it, then quit reading it.

That was my first thought. Reminds me of people that see somebody hurt and instead of calling for help, they pull out their phone and start posting to facebook. Sigh.

Speaking of pumpkin pie, a friend of my wife’s messed up the recipe and it was great. The mistake? She used Sweet and Condensed milk instead of Evaporated milk. Family decision now is we have to have one of each. The light version for after dinner and the heavier version when you just want a slice of pie and a cup of coffee.

Back when I was in school, we had a rifle range in the ROTC department and I learned to shoot a rifle there. Imagine, learning to shoot at school. Learned breath control, etc.

Same Day/Next Day/Two Day is a joke. It gets handed off to USPS where it goes in and out of a facility several times and travels all over before getting to the destination several days after promised.

Well, the people have spoken what they want. Trump won the popular vote. I was reading this morning about how the democrats used to attract those without a college degree but with their emphasis on degrees and student loans, they lost a lot of support they used to have. Seems a lot of people, especially those without degrees don’t want to get stuck paying for somebody else’ obligations.

Also, Harris underperformed Biden in many key demographics such as black women.

A lot of people now see the far left democrats and taking away our lives. No more gas stoves (which I love), no more gas cars, etc. Several conversations now that democrats wan t to distance themselves from the far left and have people see democrats as more mainstream. (Not "First let me say I grew up in a middle class …)

Many people were upset that nobody voted for Harris in 2020 as she dropped out early due to non support and then nobody had to opportunity to vote for her this time. That had a double whammy as she was appointed the nominee so close to the election, many say she was not able to distinguish herself from Biden. That said, she herself said on a interview that she didn’t know of any ways she would be different. THAT marked her as another Joe.

Her inability to say what she stood for other than she didn’t stand for what she said she stoof for the first time turned a lot of people off. All she could says was see my website.

As people looked at the price fo gas, groceries, and utility bills, and they realized she had no plan and it would likely be like it has been for the last 3.5 years, people turned away.

Basically, a lot of people voted against Biden/Harris, not for Trump.

Frankly i am glad Trump cannot run again. Both parties will have to develop a candidate for 2028. I am realy hopeful the independent party will get off the stick and start organizing now and n ot 2 months before the primaries.
