What? Other people have my schtick? Or do I actually know you and you are plagiarising me?

The problem is that most people want a version of socialism. In many countries, the rich are all for socialism for themselves but want it to go no lower in the society. In the United States, you actually subsidize the very wealthy with your tax system. Politicians retire after short service with very generous pensions and complete health care, paid for by the state. They are also able to gain great amounts of “campaign” contributions from the rich to decide that the rest of the country should continue to support them at the expense of the very people who are paying the lion’s share of the taxes.Adam Smith (supposedly the founder of Capitalism,) contrary to popular belief, was very much a socialist. He said “an unregulated marketplace is neither free nor fair” and “When two or more merchants are speaking together, they are usually setting prices.” Socialism does not deny capitalism (nor vice versa) but it would appear that today’s Capitalists are largely Libertarians. To my mind, most Libertarians are better described as libertines.
