    The problems of common names, none of them are official so they do not always reflect taxonomy or relationships between organisms. The pronghorn antelope is a very unique organism in a taxonomic family all to itself. Its closest living relatives are giraffes. African antelopes are in the family Bovidae, related to cattle, bison, goats… Our NA deer are more closely related to moose than to elk.
