Hey, BNFF1! How would you feel about Lincoln doing more strips about Nate’s family life? A good arc would be one in which Nate’s dad has a go at dating – and we could get both Nate’s and Ellen’s reactions to matters as they develop. That’s one reason why I liked the very early strips so much: there was plenty of focus on Nate’s life at home, and it was very well written, too. Marty is probably my favourite BN character, to be honest.

My least favourite well-used phrase? When people say “it’s fine” in reply to an apology, etc., but very clearly don’t mean it. I’m also not keen on “I’m good” as a response to “How are you?” What phrases of this sort do others here dislike?

I wonder what Nate’s grandparents on his mum’s side are like.

How old do you think he is, then? He looks about 50 to me.

How do you feel about Uncle Ted and Whitey as characters? Uncle Ted is gross, but it is possible to get a good laugh out of him. I’ve often thought that you could have a hilarious story arc if you were to pair him up with School Picture Guy. Whitey, on the other hand, is a strangely mean-spirited kid. He’s all about hugging his friends and expressing his love, but there’s something lurking inside him which doesn’t quite match this outward amiability… Remember when he refused to give Nate a “good luck” hug? For such a touchy-feely person, he sure was being unnecessarily difficult.

That’s easy! They’re messing about with the tardigrade in social studies class and creating a BIG distraction as they test its invulnerability with various substances which kids really shouldn’t have in their possession… I should have explained in more detail. And yes, I know that Lincoln Peirce doesn’t pay attention to reader suggestions. I was just having fun imagining the arc and sharing my thoughts with other readers.
Does the jinx only work if Francis is watching the game on TV in Nate’s company, and at Nate’s house?
