   It used to be just the government of the US. But then 30 odd percent of the citizens elected President Trump again, since another 40 odd percent couldn’t be bothered to vote at all. So folks are taking a pretty dim view of americans now, not just their government. Since I was born there, folks ask me about this all the time. But what do I know? I left there 45 years ago, and I think they are all crazy.

   Buddy, everyone I talk to thinks the man is a dangerous lunatic. The vet that vaccinated my cat, every member of the online writers course I attend, the cashier at the local market, my neighbor on his way to work in his forest, random people on public transit, everybody. I don’t watch TV at all.

   Yes it is a cartoon, which means it should not mean anything? Or that the cartoonist should be immune from being called on ‘stoopid’ revenge jokes? And we as in humanity, that we. We frown on treating people badly because of their group, but perhaps Lennie enjoys doing his part to increase inter-group unease in line with the recent developments in the US?
