I don’t see it as gossip. My dictionary defines gossip as “Rumor or talk of a personal, sensational or intimate nature.” I doubt that Patty didn’t think she was pointing out anything that Charlie Brown didn’t already see. Her mistake was talking loudly enough for Pig-Pen to hear. She could have waited until she was alone with Charlie Brown. And if, being charitable, we give her the benefit of the doubt, she might have been about to ask Charlie, “Should we do something to help him?” The fact that Pig-Pen heard her was a blessing, because it gave him an opportunity to remind Patty (and is) that having a clean heart is more important than a clean exterior.
Except the Benders announced their retirement in the strip of 9-1. I’m wondering why we old strips are being republished. Have replacements for the Benders not been selected yet, or more importantly, WILL replacements be selected?
I’m a long-time fan of Pearls, but I have to say that this is the worst comic organ ever… this is a piano with pipes attached! Organs have at least 10 pedals, and at least two manuals (i.e. keyboards)!
Unfortunately, all the dna tests have proven is that someone in TJ’s LINE had relations with Sally Hemmingsl that person could have been a cousin of Thomas Jefferson. So this strip is slander, in my opinion. which is a shame, because BB can be very funny without such cheap tactics.
Two wasted panels.
