I thought of The 13 Clocks as well. I had totally forgotten that book. 50 years ago! (I am forever grateful for the summer reading lists from my grade school. We had a choice of Animal Farm or 1984, and I ended up, today, having never read 1984.)
I like a statement that is declarative about the present. My mind had been slippery about the 4th panel. I have viewed their talk of the last weeks as a floating magic cloud where they connected on the logic and experiences; I thought, some day this essence will float out and away. In the present, today (maybe not for ever), the deep reality is what you said.
Yesterday’s strip makes it much clearer; yet to me, it’s still possible that some kind of reality could be realized and nix the plan. For example, Janis had loved the server role that no longer exists.
I don’t understand this strip; and I’ve done a bit of kayaking. But, as with surf-sailing, all my mental energy goes to not tipping over and I never have. I’m not really sure that a kayak can turn over. (I know canoes can :-) )
I need to expand on that that Like I gave that day…. I was moaning to myself about spending too much time trying to make the strip seem better when I saw your post and like a switch flip, I broke out laughing and continued for at least a half minute. It was perfect for me at that moment; changed my day.
Thanks! I agree with that. However, the distance between “roller” and “cruller” keeps my mind from feeling the humor. (and I’m easy). [Maybe I can find an accent that will close the gap.]
I was also surprised by the comment; then I thought that maybe he’s aware that deciding to move to be at a certain place is a completely different thing than deciding on the house to move to.
