   Thanks for the link and the explanation. So perhaps I’m right in thinking that cats detect the pseudo-protein in plastic and that’s why they like plastic. I did assume that the melamine in the pet food was intentional, but couldn’t back up my suspicion.

   There’s something about plastic, I don’t know what, that attracts cats. Do you recall, years ago, the poison cat food issue? Some ingredient from China turned out to be melamine (or something similar)? The strange thing was, in lab tests it registered as a protein! Ever since then, I’ve wondered if some plastic bags and coatings actually smell like protein to cats. Maybe someone in the Orb knows the answer?

   Sometimes they like to share these important things with us. Like the time Spot (in harness) took me outside where we sat under a tree and listened to a wind symphony. It filled me with awe. Such sweet music from breezes in trees. Pure cat magic.
