    @abbybookcase, I’ve always heard it as 1, 2, and 5.

  2. over 9 years ago on Pearls Before Swine

    @WiseOrator, it is not in their name. They are called koalas, not “koala bears”.

  3. over 10 years ago on Pearls Before Swine

    Where’s the strip? It doesn’t show up

    @calliopejane, nobody has the right to dictate what other people call him. Just because you wake up one morning and decide to take offense at what people call you is no reason for them to change their language. If you choose to feel offended, go right ahead; you have nobody to blame but yourself.

    @WaitingMan, that’s because there is no hunger in America. “Food insecurity” means that a person never actually goes hungry, but doesn’t know from one day to the next where his meals will be coming from. That’s stressful and distressing, but a far cry from hunger. People who know actual hunger would be delighted to merely be insecure about their food supply.

    What’s a super doing visiting the building? Isn’t he there every day? And how is he making decisions about raising rent, let alone about selling the place? Since when does a super have such authority?

    Nah, didn’t work. I didn’t move an inch. You’ll have to do a lot better than that to get me to move, Rat.

    @the burser, lemmings are strong swimmers

  9. over 11 years ago on Pearls Before Swine

    @masterskrain Actually something the size of a lemming can survive quite a long drop. The smaller a creature the better its ability to handle falls; bugs can fall from tall buildings and not even notice, but even mice will just be stunned and then get up and walk away.

    1. This is about a trademark, not copyright.

    2. Yes, you can use trademarks in a way that doesn’t confuse consumers. Or at least you could until Congress made up the truly evil concept of “trademark dilution”. Now it all depends, because nobody really knows what “dilution” means.

    3. In any case, this is a joke. In cartoon-world, Larry got a cease-and-desist; I see nothing to indicate that in this world Pastis got one.
