Lots of glasses in the UK are about 22 fl oz. For most of the world (i.e. everywhere except USA) a pint is 20 fl oz. Pub glasses are defined as either rim measure or line measure. A rim measure glass is a pint up to the rim, a line measure is a pint up to a line printed near the top with the rest of the glass left for the head of the beer meaning that the total glass size is about 22 fl oz
This comes about because when you buy a pint of beer it legally has to be a pint of fluid with the head not fully counting. So a pint of non gassy “real ale” can be served in a rim but a gassy lager needs a line.
