Except the term “virtue signaling” is rarely used to refer to people who are only pretending to do good things while in reality doing little, but is instead used, as here, to mock those actually doing good things by those doing nothing.

They’re presumably one person cubicles, for anyone to use. You should be familiar with the concept, it’s essentially what everyone has in their homes.

The Grinch isn’t mean though, not in the least. His heart grew three sizes, he joined the Whos’ feast. He gave back the presents and carved the roast beast!

I think the problem they have with the argument that people would listen and take it seriously if they were just more polite and respectful is somewhat undermined by several decades of them doing just that and being largely ignored.

As for mass shootings, I was going to say that’s not the same because no-one is largely ignoring that problem and continuing to make it worse, but maybe that’s not as true as it should be.

I think the idea is that you’re supposed to be infuriated by them, because you do care about precious artifacts being damaged, and then you’re supposed to realise that unmitigated climate change will do vastly more damage to many more priceless and irreplaceable things than some activists with paint ever could and realise you should be much, much, much more infuriated about that.

As someone else said in another comment, it’s Beethoven’s Für Elise (Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor). (Well, it is if we assume some sharps in there, otherwise it’s a slightly out-of-tune Für Elise).

Can’t seem to post the link? His identity was revealed in the strip on 2021/04/19 anyway.
