Yeah for you, Lynnskay!!! I almost passed out when I read “nuns and I”. Makes my flesh crawl, but I still love Stephen even if he does occasionally slip up “grammar-wise”.
Well I for one would rather “go back in time” for “vintage” Doonesbury than risk what my paper might put in its place. And if Mr. Trudeau is on vacation (or whatever) for a while, I say we hold his place. I have all the books, and sometimes go back just to get a giggle from the early days.
You KNOW that I love you guys, but please allow me to point out that Francis (with an “i”) is the spelling for a man; Frances (with an “e”) is for a female … which I’m assuming is the case based on the eyelashes. Just had to let you know in honor of my late mother … a Frances!
A blast from the past! I have all the Bloom County books and recognized Steve Dallas right away … made me smile. As for that ratty crew in the slammer? Well, they might be better off in jail than being represented by Steve! Love Pearls! Love Breathed … still have a little stuffed Opus.
Well, I was THRILLED when “Pearls” came to the SF Chronicle a few years ago. I still have the “Godfather” (gonna make a Hoffa they can’t re-fuse") strip pinned up in my home office. Still laugh at it. This may or may not be an indication of whether or not I am qualified to even HAVE an opinion … let alone make a comment.
That being said, my only criticism of Mr. Patis’ strip this Sunday was his grammar. Should hava been “My buddy, Herb, and I…” not me and my buddy. Rookie mistake, Patis!
Was upset to see I missed your San Jose visit by one day! You rule … love strip bad grammar and all. Rat is my favorite.
I cry every day because selfish Bill Watterson has stopped creating C&H. I understand his need for “freedom of expression” and not being held to a deadline, but why can’t he just put out some collections every now and then? Gee, Bill, is it asking too much? Devoted fan … have ALL the books.
