My Italian grandmother never planned and wondered around for at least 2 or 3 hours grocery shopping. She always socialized, even with total strangers and checked every row. My German grandmother taught me the art of surgical strike shopping. Plan, write it out in the order you will walk through the store, and execute with precision.

My son and daughter both have elves for their kids. I keep duplicates in my home. It’s always fun to see the look on the grandkids faces when the elf shows up the morning after they arrive.
You’re not kidding on that one. I work in Texas Children’s Hospital. The children that are most depressed are those that can’t leave the hospital around Christmas. We do what we can to cheer them up, but they’re usually very unhappy to not be at home. The ones that don’t want to go home (abuse victims mostly) are the roughest to deal with.
I always look forward to the guy in an Aloha shirt and shorts that shows up on the 26th, Sanity Claus.
