    Once again, Hobbes is a stuffed toy when Calvin is not around to interact with him. He is only “alive” when Calvin is around and interacting with him. This is consistent throughout the whole strip.

    You do realize that this is a comic strip with a talking and thinking robot, with a time traveler who occasionally visits, and that aliens exist. But a parrot being a character who can talk and think and feel is where you draw the line?
