As a southern person, it’s hard to imagine. We tend to go the opposite way regardless of who and where. Every exchange starts with a “hey, how’re you?” and ends with “thanks, have a good day” because it’s just ingrained in our brains.
Younger audience? Please. I’m 60 and encounter these terms on the internet daily. They are quite common now, if only to make fun of the dumb slang the kids are making up these days.
Fireworks here in South Carolina and my friend in Atlanta said same over there. Apparently it’s a thing now, or at least with some cultures represented in both areas. It gets a bit much.
