This reminds me of one of my favorite Stephen Wright bits:

    “I’m seeing a voodoo acupuncturist.

“It’s great; you don’t even need to go. I’m just walking down the street and all of the sudden…..(suddenly clutches back) ‘Ack! Oh, I feel better.”

Yeah, in Iceland, it’s traditional that a son’s last name is the father’s first name plus “son”, and the daughter’s is the father’s first name plus “dottir”. Did I mention inbreeding exists there?

This reminds me of the many (and increasingly ridiculously named) sequels of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

    But funnier!

It’s somewhat inaccurate or even dishonest to say that books are getting banned. What’s (mostly) happening is that in certain areas of conservative political persuasion, some books are being taken out of school libraries that either parents or politicians feel are inappropriate for the age group.

You’re correct; they’re not banning the books and anyone who has access to a computer or commercial bookstore and a credit card (or even usually a public library) can still access these books. The problem, without slogging into partisan politics, is that one group sees certain content as being harmful to children and the other side views this same content as being essential to some of the same children. The ideological gulf in this country is only getting more insane as each group views their perspective as normative and is unable and unwilling to concede they’re moving in the wrong direction just as much as the other.
