@libby times 2In case you haven’t been paying attention, it’s Russia and China vetoing the resolutions to help the Syrian people. And in case you haven’t noticed, the intervention in Libya worked far better than the (ongoing) interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kindly get your facts straight.

@churchillCheck your US history. Arizona, Cali, NM, TX, most of CO…. All were Spanish, then Mexican, before the WASPs came. So Latino history is as much a part of American history as anything else. Read a book before you burn them all.

@Randy Townsley:Define “they.” Most people in any country, of any race or religion, want about what you do — to live in peace, to have a voice in their government, and to have an opportunity to better their economic position. When you group the CIVILIANS of any group in with a few crazies, you’re descending to the level of those who want to use xenophobia and paranoia to gain power. The common element in the enemies you list — Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Saddam’s Iraq and the Ayatolla’s Iran is just that — xenophobia and paranoia. Please do us all a service and stop spouting your xenophobic nonsense, so we don’t have to add the US to that list of pariah states.

Blacks have had a helping hand in the past 50 years because of the nice healthy doses of slavery, oppression, colonialism, and exploitation that whites had given them for the centuries before that. I’ve disagreed with your views in the past, but this goes too far.

@Clownsj Silent majority? The MAJORITY of the country favors more taxes on the rich. That’s not socialism, that’s making the rich give back to the system that put them where they are.

Revenue’s lower than spending. Spending’s at its highest level compared to GDP since WWII, revenue at its lowest since the Korean War. Maybe the way to fix that is to (gasp) cut spending and raise revenue? Since America obviously wants these programs, its time America pays for them.

@Asaid: I humbly counter with… facts. The Healthcare industry has not been nationalized. Last I checked, my insurance comes from Kaiser, not Uncle Sam. The auto industry has also not been nationalized. GM is still an independent corporation; they have been lent money by the United States Government, which they will pay back (or have paid back — I don’t know for sure). And this wasn’t even a practice started by the Obama administration: The BUSH administration approved the initial loans. Obama is not anti-Semitic. He was the first president to celebrate Hanukkah at the white house, and Rahm Emanuel (his former chief of staff) is Jewish. As for Israel, supporting recognition for a stateless people (The Palestinians) is not in the least bit anti-Semitic. I’m not a gun owner, so I can’t testify to your penultimate allegation, but I’m fairly sure you can still own guns in the US, if you’ve proved that you aren’t a felon or a madman. Please stop ranting and check your facts. @Vortex: I prefer to trust the US geological survey, which, at this link, estimates the Bakken Formation reserves in North Dakota to be about 1% of what your link says. You can’t trust everything you read on the internet, my friend. http://www.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911I apologize to all for a long-winded post, but we really ought to consider the facts.
