As heinous as the TN anti-LGBT law is, Bell’s anti-Memphis rants in his strip the last couple of days come across as sour grapes for not being invited to the party. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe Darrin is going to be here in town for the awards ceremony… however what he was NOT a part of was yesterday’s “Cartooning for Kids” project at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, drawing for and meeting with young patients and their parents, then participating in last night’s gala fundraiser for this incredible institution. So I don’t see the NCS coming to Memphis as tacit support for a terrible law but as support for the thousands of sick children and their terrified parents that are helped each year by St. Jude. I think Mr. Bell needs to think more carefully before he casts aspersions.
How about a crowd funding campaign like Kick starter or Indiegogo? Somebody close to Aaron should talk to him about it. It could raise enough to at least help in the short term. And Aaron’s art would make great perks for donors.
Wait… Phil used to be white?
