My late husband served in the medical corp in the mid-70s and was stationed at the hospital in Memphis. Hos patient care involved much more than simply “assisting.” He also worked closely with the Chief Medical Officer (or whatever the title is) with administrative work. And yes, their chief patients were Marines.
I agree. At 11, almost 12, he’s awkward, and most certainly immature. And with all those kids around, his awkwardness/immaturity come out in saying things meant to get himself some attention.
Someone said Bernice is much more mature than Luann. I suspect that we’ll find out Luann has the edge on Bernice here. She already told Bern it isn’t a competition and left her to be “alone” with Piro. When Luann sees the kids and the situation, she ‘ll step in, like a responsible adult, to handle the kids while Piro and Bern discuss his situation. And I’m thinking that the kids might open up enough to Luann to clue her in on what’s happening.
There’s an extremely thin line between being curious and being downright nosy. Not to mention that Bernice looks at everything through her “therapist” lens.
That was established earlier today, I believe.
