Hey Tabitha… I felt the same as you until I realized their are many cartoonists who go with a niche idea. It doesn’t always match their actual skills but they try it anyway. Bill Watterson was more than a cartoonist and pediatric genius… he could actually do amazing landscapes and would often totally change his style to the point that you didn’t realize it was a Calvin and Hobbs comic. Remember “Mr. Bun” the rabbit? He did the whole scene like it was Brenda Starr. Or the sparrow singing “On top of spaghetti!” drawn like a real wildlife artist. Don’t see much hope for Eric’s artist but I’ll give him some time to break out with an occasional revealing of his greater skills if they exist. Until then… I empathize with your concerns.
