   I’m an old analog dog living in a digital world who has no intention of learning new tricks, even if I could. My favorite shirt reads (warning: the shirt is not in front of me so I’m using something I used to have called memory): “I Don’t Do Tik-Tok, I Don’t Tweet. However, I can drive standard shift, do math in my head and tell time from a clock with hands.” Boy, do I miss vertical hold and horizontal hold dials.

   Amen. Given the past, current state of American television offerings listening to Socrates, Plato, Aristotle or viewing a play especially by Aristophanes would certainly be preferable.

   Ironically despite all our wars nations that engage in them quickly not only recover lost numbers but quickly have rapid population increases. Seems the Thomas Malthus Effect is only temporary.

   Remembering is all about what’s important to you. As a kid I hated numbers and math in school but had no trouble figuring and remembering baseball card stats. I still know Ted Williams hit .388 in 1957 and Bud Daley’s 1958 baseball card (he was pictured as a Cleveland Indian then) was #222. Don’t ask me my cell phone number, though.

   This is nothing compared to what Russian geek hackers are going to do in 2020 to votes cast on digital voting machines. No wonder Trump is against absentee (except for himself) or vote by mail ballots. How will Russian techno-geeks be able to hack paper ballots?

    I taught in a school where it did not take long to realize the administration’s only interest was A.I.N.U.S.: All Image No Useful Substance. Was reminded of this by that school in Georgia suspending students for taking pictures of packed hallways between classes with few masks to be seen. Principal’s reason for the suspensions: it didn’t look good. Next day suspensions lifted due to social media outrage and now a few days later 9 students testing positive so far. Can’t see how that looks good, either.
