I pay for my three grandchildren to play soccer and feel it is good for them and we all enjoy it. I payed for my grandson to play football one season, and was really disappointed. The coach was mean. The boys were encouraged to be really rough. And we had to pay to get into the games for an 8 year old kid. The coach’s son was quarterback, and when he was not on the field, his mother was yelling at him on the sideline. Of course, the girls couldn’t play; they could only be accessories . . . I mean cheerleaders, which my granddaughters were not. Soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, but no football.
Trusted Mechanic, as usual I totally agree with you. The number of guns used for self defense each year is not one tenth of a percent of those which kill people by accident or suicide. My husband bought a shotgun one time and taught me how to use it because he was going out of town. As soon as he was gone, I put it in the attic (and our attic is hard to get into). It stayed there for a long time.
Veteran’s Affairs care should be available ONLY to veterans who have service-related injuries or conditions (such as PTSD or exposure to chemicals), If that were the case, the hospitals would be adequately funded on the current budgets to give the proper treatment to those veterans who deserve it. Those who spent three or four years in the military and were healthy when they got out should provide for their own medical care.
We need to help the Ukranians, but no with boots on the ground. We would end up in the Ukraine, as we did in Iraq and Afghanistan, with incalculable numbers of dead civilians, plus an unacceptable number of dead Americans.
I came home one day to find a squirrel tail in my dining room. At first, I thought it was a toy, but further inspection proved it to be genuine. I didn’t feel to sorry for the critter, if it didn’t have enough good sense not to come down from the attic into the parts of the house that were inhabited by cats.
I hear some people complain about these mascots, but I haven’t heard and would like to know the opinions of the majority of native Americans. If they do feel that these mascots denigrate ridicule their culture, then the teams should get new names.
Right on, Carlson.
