A manger at that time was a rock hollowed out on the top to create a trough in the stone. It was not wooden. You can see pictures on the internet of existing mangers from that time. Also, no animals were mentioned in the stable. The sheep were on the hills.
We live in the country. Our litter includes garbage bags full of stuff (I assume someone was taking them to a dump and they fell off the truck), a pipe, beer and pop cans, lots of paper and plastic. We are always picking up the litter that others discard. We pick up several garbage bags a year. Mostly it is fast food garbage.

That’s what we need. Our new exchange students uses 1/4 roll of new toilet tissue every time he uses the toilet. We go through one roll a day, instead of 2 weeks.
