I am in awe that no one has commented on the perhaps cynical but nonetheless fascinating question about which religion has the best answered prayer track record. As a long time member of several religious studies groups, one more or less orthodox protestant and the other more universalist but founded in Christianity, I intend to put this question to my friends. Many are followers of Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest, who loves to challenge his 100’s of thousands followers with the phrase, “arrogant dualistic certainty.” Imagine, I will offer, a soccer match between a Muslim team and a Christian team, each coming into the match with two seasons of 100% wins against international teams. Each team prays to win and to finish without injury. Now imagine yourself a bookies taking $M’s in bets. How do you calculate the odds?
