    Like what? Even people in STEM and Finance have loans. The terms of repayment are burdensome, on top of the costs.

    Not to mention, there are plenty of jobs that only require a broad lib-arts education, but many of those jobs even don’t pay median wages.

    This is an option for some people, but I think people forget that it still takes money to get training, often loans are involved, and still years before you can support yourself. All on top of a poor labor market.

    We want to blame students for their choices in education, but wages are poor, automation has hit every job sector, and there aren’t as many jobs as there should be.

    Just because people don’t want to do physical work, doesn’t mean they are lazy. And plenty of trades, especially STEM, have a shortage. Depressed wages will do that.
